Eco
Sprout comes in a variety of scents, including Lavender Chamomile, Warm Vanilla
Sugar, and even In the Buff (unscented!). It is great for use with HE or
regular machines, hard or soft water. We have a HE top loader and hard water we
live in Texas.
Finding the right detergent can be a
little challenging. Eco Sprout was kind enough to send me a bag to review. As I
was opening up my package I could already smell the amazing scent. It comes in
a very cute eco-friendly bag that you can use later for storage I now use it
for my makeup.
I recently stripped my diapers so I didn't have to do a soak before using the EcoSprout. I started my wash with a quick wash using cold water, I then did a cold wash with detergent and an extra rinse lastly I did a hot wash with an extra rinse. My diapers didn't smell clean the first time I think I didn't use enough detergent I did two tablespoons. So I had to add another tablespoon of detergent after I did that cycle my diapers then smelled nice and clean. I do like the consistency of the detergent and the scent is amazing one thing I have noticed is that the scent does go away within a couple of weeks. My soap now doesn't have a scent which is not a big deal for the fact that it washes off anyways, but I do love my house to smell like an awesome detergent. Overall I liked Eco Sprout, as far as it taking ammonia away I can't say because we are not having that problem. I like having a routine with what I know works and my suggestion to you is just stick to what you know works. Its not fair to your little babies bum to go through a rash because of a detergent that doesn't work.
Eco Sprout is a detergent I would use for Ashton's Diapers.

I haven't had to wash any dirty diapers yet (little one is due next week!) so I don't have any tips. However, I am trying to find a good detergent and would love to try this!
ReplyDeleteI have only been using cloth for one month so I am no expert. As of right now I do a cold rinse, hot wash, and another cold rinse. My most favorite new thing is sunning my diapers and inserts with stains!!! Amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteI typically use Tide but I am not opposed to trying new things :)
ReplyDeleteI do a warm rinse- bodily fluids are more soluble in warm water. Then hot wash with detergent (currently have ruby moon, but will be switching back to ecosprout- I feel like the diapers got cleaner with eco sprout. I just always have to try everything once!) Then I do one or two warm rinses. As sun the diapers if I'm lucky enough to get a sunny day in Wa state!
ReplyDeletetips...find good detergent, hose down poopy diapers with a sprayer or soak them, wash in hot, periodically strip
ReplyDeletemy tips is when in doubt, add more water!
ReplyDeleteI rinse them, then soak them in hot with soap for 1 hr, then 2 rinse cycles :)
ReplyDeletei just started washing and drying a towel with my diapers. i heard if there isn't enough stuff in the wash they dont get clean because they need something to rub up against and not just slosh around.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest tips are to wash every other day and to invest in a diaper sprayer!!
ReplyDeleteCold Rinse, cold pre-wash, hot wash, double rinse - ALWAYS double rinse!

ReplyDeleteI always cold rinse first, or if I'm feeling like they NEED it, I do a cold wash with just some washing soda or borax. And THEN I move on to my regular washing system. And always an extra rinse at the end.
ReplyDeleteI'm just getting started in the cloth diapering world! Would love the free bag! ;) Well done.
ReplyDeletei always dissolve my eco sprout in hot water and mix mix mix before i put it in! and the sun is always the solution!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any tricks. I'm still new at all this!
ReplyDeleterinse first- then hot water wash with detergent- and then rinse twice. I'd love to try ecosprout- have had issues with ammonia and my current soap :(
ReplyDeletewash them every two days
ReplyDeleteA top loading washer machine... when we moved the house had no washer, before i had a front loader. We got an HE top loader and I LOVE it!!! Made all the difference :) if you have a front loader my tip is to add water to the machine thru the detergent cup... worked for me, but was a pain in the butt
ReplyDeleteI think the diaper sprayer is a huge help -- I recommend one to all considering cloth diapering :)
ReplyDeleteSunning out stains!
ReplyDeleteRinse rinse rinse!!!
ReplyDeleteSun to get stains out
ReplyDeleteEven the worst stains will go off in sunning, all i do is saok the in detergent for 20 mins at the minimum , then 2 cold rinse , two hot rinse, btw i handwash daily since i live in a apartment without laundry facilities inside the apatrment
ReplyDeleteIf the diapers are really dirty, and the baby is older, I have been doing a light wash before the regular wash.

We have a front-loader, so I add extra water to the wash cycle. But my tip is to add extra water to the rinse cycles as well.
ReplyDeleteRinse, rinse, rinse! And use disposable liners when your baby starts solids. :)
ReplyDeleteLine dry your diapers as often as possible. It helps fight stains and keeps them smelling fresh

I don't have any tips or tricks, as I haven't starting CDing yet (waiting to adopt a newborn)...I've enjoyed reading all of these other responses!
ReplyDeletei am new at cloth diaper so not really sure still ready up on it and hopefully nexted week ill have my 1st shipment in to start on cloth diaper ver excited!!
ReplyDeleteI prewash in warm... then a hot wash with 2 scoops of Rockin Green
ReplyDeleteI run everything through 2 cycles, the second with no soap. Sometimes I throw a third one in to be sure.
ReplyDeleteMy baby isn't due until Dec but I love reading everyone's tips!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely run a full cold wash cycle W/OUT detergent as a prerinse. Not sure why I recommend this? Next time you do diapers, watch the color of the water turn super yucky, can't get diapers clean in dirty water. :)
ReplyDeleteRinsing out the nighttime diaper (for all night sleepers) before tossing in the pail will help with ammonia smell. Line drying makes them smell so summery fresh and helps with stains. Fleece liners will make poo rinsing much easier.
ReplyDeleteCold rinse first and extra rinses!!!!
ReplyDeleteNever wait more than two days to wash!
ReplyDeleteI'm in search of something I can switch over to. I want to preserve my cloth :)
ReplyDeleteDon't let them sit too long before washing!

LOL- i'm lucky to get any laundry done at all!! :D one trick i have is to have my 20-month old son help me push the wet laundry into the dryer, & throw the dirty clothes into the washing machine so he stays occupied and has fun helping! :)
ReplyDeleteI started using using Eco Sprout as a rash remedy for my little one, and then used it for MY laundry and found that it reduced any and all skin irritation for me too. Pretty amazing.
