My Experience

A little secret about me that i'll share with you all today is that ..... I have an obsession with diaper creams, diaper balms. Im assuming because I know my kiddos and husband have sensitive skin, I like to try as many as I can. To be able to know which ones work for my family. I also like to collect the jars they come in :)

"THE BALM" Diaper Balm works great for us not just for Ashton's Diaper rashes, but also for Adryana's eczema she's had that problem since birth and it comes and goes. I feel like it flares up in the summer. For example she has a flare up on the side of her face right now I applied "THE BALM" Diaper Balm/ 1st Aid. Its starting to subside dramatically, not to mention you only need a little bit it goes a long way. Ashton had yet another diaper rash, I know that with cloth diapers you have less diaper rashes and I totally agree yet I still do have diaper rashes with Ashton and I think its because he is teething right now and has sensitive skin. I applied "THE BALM" within a day his bum was 100% better. Its honestly amazing stuff and the BEST part is that I use it for many purposes. Its totally natural with Hawaiian ingredients, its not harmful, it comes in a glass jar which you can be reused after finished. There is nothing not to love about "THE BALM".

I love "THE BALM" products

My Interview with Hannah From Me Oh My! Desserts!

I met Hannah through a blog hop super awesome mama.
She asked if she could interview a couple of us mamas on some cloth diapering questions and I offered because when it comes to cloth diaper Im all ears.. love talking about fluff :)  so here is my interview with Hannah.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Hello my name is Pollyanna Valenzuela. I am happily married to a US Navy Sailor, stay at home mom to Adryana 5 yrs old, Ashton 4 months old. Currently living in Texas we go wherever the Navy takes us, but originally born and raised in Southern California. I’m a Christian and I love GOD.

What made you decide to use cloth diapers?
(Start off by saying my daughter Adryana was not cloth diapered though I wished she was I didn’t know about this then I was so young just married and knew nothing really except for Pampers) That being said…
My hubby and I totally planned our little Ashton. So as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I started doing research on nice things
I wanted to get for him, or wanted on my baby shower registry. “ Way early I know” I also wanted to buy Ashton things I wished I had for my daughter but never got. I wanted to do things different with Ashton. So while search for new products Bum Genius website popped up somewhere on my window page so I took a look and read more on “CLOTH DIAPERS” I was hooked!! ) All I would do everyday was look at diapers and read a lot of information as far as how to start, what you really needed, the difference between AIO, Pockets, Covers ect. I was reading all the information yet not really understanding how to do go about it because I didn’t have Ashton yet. One thing was for sure I was going to CLOTH DIAPER Ashton. It was going to save us a lot of money is the first thing I thought then later on doing more research I found out about all the chemicals and bad stuff diapers are made with not to mention buying disposables to throw away and adding to our waste lands, was something I did not want to do again. I was determined!! I couldn’t wait to see just how cute my little Ashton would look in his diapers.
*When Ashton was born he was wearing disposables my family gave me disposables for my baby shower so I thought I would be to tired to do any laundry at the beginning and I didn’t want to NOT use these diapers I didn’t want them to just sit there. (Now in retrospect I could’ve just sold them and bought some Newborn Diapers you live and learn) So Ashton was not cloth diapered at birth not until this year 1/1/2012 did I start cloth diapering he was born 11/1/2011 so I waited a whole 2 months so start. Wish I had cloth diapered him since birth.

What type of cloth diaper(s) do you use?

I use Pockets, AIO, Covers, and Pre-Folds

Why did you settle on that type of diaper?

At first I only wanted to do Pockets because that’s what seemed easiest to me!! After having Ashton here with me, I decided I wanted to try EVERY diaper known to mama kind J so I have tried a few brands some just don’t work for us and some do. So I have a variety of Pockets, AIO, Covers, Pre-Folds, I haven’t settled for just one kind. I think I would get bored. I love trying NEW things.

What are some positive and/or negative points to cloth diapering that you have found while cloth diapering?

The positives I love about cloth diapering is that of course you reuse your diapers, better for your munchkins, eco-friendly, super adorable, you save MONEY!!
The negatives I’ve found is that you really need to have your washer or have a laundry mat close by. Some mamas would love to cloth diaper but they don’t have the means for a washer or go to the laundry mat to wash diapers every other day. So not being able to have those things could be hold you back from not cloth diapering your baby.

What is your method for rinsing and washing your cloth diapers?

I use:
Rumparooz & Blueberry Pail liners
Homemade Diaper Sprayer
(Hubby made it for me; the water comes out with a lot of pressure so its perfect for my diapers I love it!!)
Rockin Green (Hard Rock) Detergent
Wood Drying Rack
If Ashton goes tinkles, I get the diaper and spray it down so that I don’t get that ammonia smell. When he dinkles J I grab the diaper take it to the restroom spray it till there is no more signs of dinkles on it, at this point I have the insert super soaked I ring it out a little bit take the insert out and throw both the insert and diaper in my dry diaper pail. I wash every other day so when its time for diaper laundry. I do the following steps.
Throw Diapers, Inserts, Wipes, Wet bag in the washer,
Cold water rinse or pre-wash (no detergent)
Heavy Duty Hot Water Wash/ Extra Rinse (with Detergent)
1-2 Extra Cold or Warm Rinses
Hang Dry both diapers and inserts on my drying rack.

When you are out and about, how do you handle diaper changes, especially messy ones?

We don’t really go out much we live in a super small town so when we go into town I make sure to change Ashton's diaper before we leave and I take extra diapers with me but we are never out of the house more then 7 hrs.
Believe it or not I’ve never had a messy diaper only tinkle diapers so I really can’t say but I’m sure I would handle it as if I was home. I'll have to let you know how this one goes once I experience it.

Do you use cloth wipes? If yes, what made you decide to use them? What type do you use (homemade, bought etc)? What kind of solution do you use? Tell us about your method.

YES I DO!! I thought if I’m going to cloth diaper my son I must also use cloth wipes.
I use Swaddlebees, and Meg-a-roos wipes (WAHM).
“THE BALM” Juice Those Wipes Solution
Prince Lionheart Wipe Warmer
I mix my solution soak all my wipes roll them up and stack them up in wipe warmer. Super easy, and I enjoy doing it.

Do you think you could handle two children in cloth diapers at the same time? Why or why not?

I only have Ashton in cloth diapers, and I think I handle it pretty well I enjoy every minute of it, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I definitely think I could handle two in diapers if I had to.

What is an item you wish you could have for cloth diapering?

Maybe more wipes, and small doublers for night time diapers.

What is your go-to place for cloth diaper items and products?

Abby’s Lane, Cottonbabies.

How many Cloth Diapers (and Diaper Wipes) do you own and use?

Cloth Diapers: 30ish
Wipes: 20

Do you use Disposable Diapers? If so, when and why?

NO!! I actually don’t even have one. Cloth diaper all the way baby!!!
(Good for you, Pollyanna! –Hannah)

Has your child had diaper rash or other issues? How do you deal with that?

Ashton has had some gnarly diaper rash. I have used CJ’s BUTTer and that worked great. Recently Ashton had a really bad one and I used “THE BALM” MAD RASH and that did it for me it worked amazingly.

What advice could you give to people who are looking into using cloth diapers and/or cloth wipes?

Don’t think twice about it. Just do it.
You wont regret it’s just like disposables except you’ll be saving money, eco-friendly. Try it with a couple of diapers and see if its something you can do.
Really I think you’ll love it. If you have any questions just ask away.

Thank you, Hannah, for this awesome interview.

On that sweet, sacred body of yours! Need a little moisturizing? Want some shine? Due for some pampering? Butter up your sweet body already!
We know it’s so yummy you want to use it ALL right now!
But hold back, a LITTLE goes a LONG way!

Ingredients

“THE” BALM! BODY BUTTER! ALL ORGANIC Ingredients:

Olive oil infused calendula, cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil, macadamia nut oil, corn starch, vitamin e T-50 & essential oils of: orange & lavender

My Experience

I love lotions, creams, balms. When I was pregnant with my daughter I literally rubbed wax butter on my entire body. I was determined to not get stretch marks, unfortunately I still did get stretch marks. Which I call my "Flames" :) My husband would just laugh or ask why do you put lotion all over your body??

I guess I just love to be moisturized, "THE BALM" offers a Body Butter which is amazing along with all there other products. Its whipped super soft and you only need a little and it goes a long way. I rub it on my body, I also use it on Ashton after his baths, it smells great and for some reason when I apply it on him, he always seems to take a nap after, could be all the natural ingredients soothe him to sleep. So I try to use it on him every time.

These last past couple days my hands have been very dry and crack, because of the packing and cleaning.
Stuffing my diapers has been annoying because of my dry cracked skin the microfiber inserts stick to my hands   super annoying so I applied the butter on my hands over night and put a sock over my hands and the next morning my hands were so soft. Its very light not greasy at all its seriously amazing.
It comes in recycled aluminum tin which is reusable for something else after your done with your Body Butter which is super awesome.

This is another "THE BALM" products I love and is a definitely a "MUST" have in my home.

Tommee Tippee Review & Giveaway

Tommee Tippee such a cute name for baby products !!
I had the pleasure of reviewing Tommee Tippee bottle, pacifiers, hand sanitizer. I was super excited to start using all three of them. I sterilized the bottle and pacifiers and on I went to use them!!
I have tried out many bottles and alot of them are heavy, big, bulky, and hard to use. Some of the companies design of bottles make it hard for the baby to drink his/her milk.

Here is some information about the bottle I received.
Closer To Nature ® 260ml / 9 fl oz Feeding Bottle x1

  • Nipple mimics natural feel, flex and movement of breastfeeding
  • Allows for easy transition between breast and bottle
  • Wide neck nipple for easier latch on
  • Anti-colic, anti-gas, advanced easi-vent™ valve
  • BPA & Phthalate Free
  • Graduations in mls and ounces
  • Hygiene Cap seals the nipple for travel

Tommee Tippee bottle is amazing I love it so much I'm totally going to convert I currently use born free which I also love but having to take out the barrier in between the bottle and nipple sometimes is a hassle in the middle of the night when I'm super tired. Tommee Tippee is simple, light weight, small!! All of the things I love! I mean Who like to carry around huge bottles? right? It's a 9oz and it's so much smaller then my current one you can see the comparison in this picture.

It's such a light weight bottle that my son
of 4 mths can hold it by himself.
(I had fun taking these pictures, we went shopping on this day.)

I love that it fits in my diaper bag so nicely, I doesn't take up alot of room. And it's just so simple I love simple, I love that I don't have to read a huge manual on how to use a bottle.

Mommy & Daddy Friendly : Totally M&D friendly again you don't have to read a manual on how to use it except on how to sterilize them. Yous screw the top and your good to go!!

Quality : It's a very good quality, it's not as thick as my born free but I guess that's what I personally love about it making it a light weight bottle!

Overall : I think you all can determine that I totally love Tomme Tippee bottles they are amazing I absolutely love them there is nothing I would change about them!!
Closer To Nature ® Style Shield Pacifier
6-18m x2 - Green

  • Truly orthodontic pacifiers created with dental experts
  • Nipple gently expands in the mouth to support baby's palate for a natural fit
  • The nipple gently flexes and stretches in the mouth for ultimate comfort
  • BPA & Phthalate Free
  • Packed in a handy sterilizer capsule that can also be used as a handy carry case for travel
  • It only takes a maximum of 90 seconds to sterilize CTN pacifers in an 850 – 1000 watt microwave.
Simply measure 1 fl oz/25ml of water in a closer to nature® bottle and pour into the steri-box (approximately to the first oval ring on the front of the steri-box).
*For microwaves over 1000 watts please adjust the power accordingly

Ashton totally loved his pacifiers. I was not a huge fan of Pacifiers until Ashton showed signs of actually liking them, but the ones I got him would always fall out because the nipple was small and It would just come right out of his mouth. Tomme Tippee creates there pacifiers with a wider nipple so it actually stays in there mouths and is not constantly coming out, not to mention they are super cute!!
Overall:  I love there pacifier and so did Ashton.

Here is an action shot!!

Closer To Nature ® Antibacterial Hand Soap Mousse

Intuitively designed for healthy, clean feeding. For hand washing to decrease bacteria on the skin.

  • Uses: For hand washing to decrease bacteria on the skin. Recommended for repeated use.
  • Cleans in seconds, Kills 99.9% of bacteria, Free from Alcohol, Chlorine, Fragrance and Dyes. 8.45 fl oz
  • Directions: 1. Pump a small amount of foam into the palm of hand. 2. Rub thoroughly over all
  • surfaces of both hands for 15 seconds.
  • 3. Rinse with clean water.

As you all might know already I'm a total germaphobe. So having Tommee Tippee hand soap sanitizer is awesome. It comes out in a form of mousse, and when applying it does not have that (alcohol) smell that a lot of hand sanitizers have. It smells very natural. I love it. It is accessible to me, I have it on my changing table.

Action Shot Of My Changing Table.

Overall : I enjoyed reviewing all three products. Tommee Tippee makes amazing product
theres nothing I would change on the items I received to review.
