Folds, Folds, Folds Oh My!! Day-3 #flatschallenge

I am taking part in the Second Annual Flats and Handwashing Challenge hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry.  For 7 days I will be using only flat cloth diapers and handwashing them in an effort to prove that cloth diapering can be affordable and accessible to all.  You can learn more about the rules and why this challenge was started by visiting the announcement post.  This year there are over 450 participants from all over the world!  

Yay!! 2 days down 5 more days to go!!

Yesterday went great, it was a beautiful day. 

I did have more flats to wash compared to the first day.

 I didn't have any poopy diapers, which I essence is awesome right??? no poopy diapers ??? Now I should totally brace myself because maybe today he will poop more often. Fun times fun time!!  

Using flats I find myself tracking his diaper changes more often. Bringing back memories of when he was a newborn. Overall yesterday was great just had more flats to wash which was a workout!! 

What folds am I using??

I currently am loving the origami fold with a small padfolded flat for day time. For night time I am using a diaperbag fold with an extra padfolded for overnight heavy wetter. It's working great not having any problems I know that the first day I had a small leak but ever since I fixed the problem I haven't had any more leaks. Night time fold was great this morning he was drenched but no leaks so hey hey hey I must be doing something right??

Its a bit bulky but it works also used a 

blueberry cover they are nice and wide.

Learning experience is be grateful for everything I have. Sometimes I take things for granted without noticing so I thanked GOD for my blessings.

Flats and Handwashing Challenge Day - 1 Why are you taking it?

Hey, Hey, Hey as you all may know I am taking part in the Second Annual Flats and Handwashing Challenge hosted by Dirty Diaper Laundry. For 7 days I will be using only flat cloth diapers and handwashing them in an effort to prove that cloth diapering can be affordable and accessible to all. Today is May 21, 2012 Day 1

When I first heard about the Flats Challenge I thought what an awesome Challenge, but thought to myself "I don't really have the extra money to buy Flats so I think I will pass" but after reading a couple of my friends post on Facebook about the flats challenge and the items they would be using and WHY? they were doing it. I found myself re-evaluated my decision and thought I needed to do this for myself.

Here is why???

1. How does that saying go " Practice what you preach". Yes I want to be able to talk to mamas and say "YOU can do it"on a tight budget without a washer and dryer. If I did it then you totally can. Granted I'm only going to be doing it for 7 days but I'm sure if need be I would definitely keep on doing it. 
2. I want to be able to say "I DID IT". I can't give advice on something I haven't went through or done myself. At the end of this Challenge I will be able to say "I DID IT".
3. I want to be able to see and experience first hand and understand other parents challenges who are doing this on a daily basis.  
4. We are all helping a great cause.
5. I'm always up for a great Challenge!! BRING IT ON!!

For these reasons I will be doing the 

Flats Challenge this year!!

Its easy to say "thats easy anyone can do it " but not really knowing. Well I will be experiencing it first hand. Im practicing what I'm preaching... ROCK IN GREEN

Hey everyone..

How are you all doing?
Well today is a day full of fun stuff. I have to do fluffy laundry and organize Ashton's diapers I just recently purchased a changing table on craigslist for $25 dollars. It needs a lot of TLC as far as a paint job, but it will look like a million buck once I'm done with it. :) And just other chores around the house..

Today I received my ROCK IN GREEN Laundry Detergent.  This detergent is what I use to wash all of Ashton's fluffy diapers. This stuff is "THE BOMB" it has an awesome smell, takes away all the stinkies out of Ashton's cloth diapers. They offer 3 types of detergent for hard, soft and normal water conditions. With 6 different scents not including the limited editions or seasonal scents. They have the magnetic laundry scoop which I also LOVE and got and so you have it right on your washer and not digging everywhere trying to look for it.
